A week after a Portland, Oregon white supremacist, Jeremy Joseph Christian, killed two men and seriously wounded a third after the men intervened to stop Christian from berating two women of color with racist hate speech, how will communities respond? Meanwhile, Washington State Trump campaign operative rewards right-wing “free speech warrior,” with a portrait of Trump for his handy work during the violent clashes at Berkeley in April.  And let’s not forget the nooses that are appearing around Washington, D.C. including the new Smithsonian African-American History Museum, Will we still see more pundits telling us to “ignore them and they’ll go away,” or will we be force that will push back the ugly growth of fascism? Time will tell. Maybe take some advice from Timothy Snyder’s new book, On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century.

The March for Truth is happening across the country on Saturday calling for an independent investigation of Trump’s and his campaign’s ties to Russia. Sean Kitchen will be featured in the March for Truth in Harrisburg. Rick Smith will be in New York City.

More than 200 Inauguration Day Anti-Trump protesters facing 80-year prison terms. More than 130 of those arrested have joined a “points of unity” agreement to reject plea deals requiring selling out fellow activists.

It’s budget season in Pennsylvania. Monday will be a day of action in the state Capitol. Legislators return to Harrisburg on Monday and face another contentious session ahead of the June 30th budget deadline. Activists will be filling the Rotunda and the Capitol steps beginning Monday morning. For more details, go to PAChoice.org/BudgetAction.

So-called Republican Moderate Charlie Dent says he’ll welcome the journalist-assaulting freshman congressman from Montana, Greg Gianforte. Dent sticks his head in the sand, saying “we don’t know all the facts” about Gianforte’s assault on Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs.

Philly Beer Week starts today. It’s always Sunny Side Up in Philadelphia. Pizza Boy will be in Philly this week. Summertime convinces Sean and Kevin to get active to break out of Trump fatigue. Shout out to Blooming Glen Farms.

It’s Friday, May 26, 2017. Welcome to Raging Chicken’s Out d’Coup podcast. I am Kevin Mahoney, editor, and founder of Raging Chicken Press. I’m back from the West Coast and already neck deep in the insanity once again. It’s media assault week across the nation. Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs grabbed by the neck and body slammed by Montana Republican congressional candidate Greg Gianforte. Gianforte charged with assault, but still goes on to win the election. Our own Sean Kitchen thrown out of a legislative office and threatened with arrest for covering civil disobedience in PA State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe.

Trump Russia probe heats up so the Trump Organization gets the hell out of dodge to take awkward photos with world leaders. Trump family photo with Pope Francis, priceless. Melania’s hand slapping skills, high. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is pleased as punch that the Saudi’s know how to suppress protest. Meanwhile, on the home front, Washington State Senator joins growing number of right-wing legislators proposing legislation to criminalize protest. Housing and Urban Development Secretary and former sleepy presidential candidate Ben Carson calls poverty a “state of mind.” That state of mind will become increasingly important as the GOP’s repeal and replace health care plan will throw 23 million Americans off health insurance. In the end, more people will be without healthcare than before Obamacare was passed. And, Trump’s proposed budget leaves Paul Ryan salivating and aroused at the prospect of cutting $3.6 trillion to social programs and delivering billions of dollars to the billionaire donor-class and the military. Several things have become clear with the Trump budget, however. 1) The Trump organization can’t do math; 2) there is no separation between Trump and the Paul Ryan wing of the GOP; and, 3) Budget Secretary Mick Mulvaney may just be the biggest asshole ever to serve in the U.S. government.

If the national picture weren’t enough to sharpen your pitchforks and light your torches, we’ve got enough going on in Pennsylvania to keep your resistance fuel topped off. The March on Harrisburg completed their 100+ mile march from Philadelphia and the civil disobedience began immediately. Activists marched on Harrisburg to demand an end to political gerrymandering; a ban on legalized bribery of public officials; and, automatic voter registration. Three days of action directed at State Government Chair and well-known loopy legislator Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, frightened his little snowflake heart so that he begged for a police escort through the Capitol all week. He did have time for a pizza party with NRA folks while activists occupying his office were being arrested. Makes sense since a pro-guns-in-schools bill still making its way through the PA Senate. Pipeline protests grow. Larry Krazner wins! Oh, and so much more as the budget season heats up in the state Capitol.

In our last segment, we’ll take a break to check in on the latest in space and beer! NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson ties the record for most time spent outside the ISS during her 10th space walk. She’s also set the American record for most time in space 534 days. More to come as the ISS ages. Mars mission still go, but climate projects cut. And Galactic Capitalism on its way as lucrative asteroid mining no longer in the realm of science fiction.

Pipeline legislation proposed by Scott Martin and Mike Regan seek to make pipeline protests a class 2 felony. New body camera legislation throws roadblocks for citizens. Major protests at the offices of Scott Perry and Lloyd Smucker. What’s up with the Philly District Attorney race ahead of Tuesday’s primary. Spring has sprung. Last weekend saw more than 120,000 people take to the streets across the nation to demand Trump release his tax returns. Tomorrow is the March for Science, where tens of thousands of people will converge in Washington, DC and in sister marches across the county in defense and celebration of science. Next weekend will be the People’s Climate March followed two days later by what are shaping up to be huge May Day strikes. No hiding from #TheResistance during the April Recess as even Democratic politicians face the music of a renewed progressive, left movement.

Meanwhile, the Trump Organization plays “where’s the armada” and increases tensions in the Korean peninsula. Congratulations go out to Turkish President Erdogan for “winning” new dictatorial powers. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago visit with Chinese President begins to pay off - for Ivanka.

Fox and Friends goes all in with Freedom Fascism, getting all tingly watching bombs explode to Toby Keith's, "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue." Bill O’Reilly kicked to the curb - apparently even sexual harassment factories like Fox have their limits. Today is the National Day of Silence a student-led national event organized in thousands of schools, colleges, and universities to bring awareness to the silencing effects of anti-LGBTQ name-calling, bullying and harassment.

Sean Kitchen gains a nemesis after he calls out the role of dark money and charter schools lobbyists in heated Harrisburg school board fight. Digging in the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center Report. Republican State Senator Don White introduces bill to allow guns in schools. The PA Senate Education Committee vote 9-3 move the bill out of committee and ready it for a full vote. PA Republicans establish their own “Area 51” in the State Capitol. We’ll call it Area 461. Unemployment compensation bill passes - we’ve got a short-term fix. Bill McKibben speaks to crowd in the Lehigh Valley, issuing a call to action and some sobering news ahead of Earth Day.

More on the first protest in space and the Autonomous Space Agency Network. Recalling Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy - will space exploration simply be an extension of capitalist expansionism? Great new beer release from Free Will Brewing; new canning at Pizza Boy.

It’s Friday, April 14, 2017. Another not so good friday - at least if we’re talking about the future of democracy. I am Kevin Mahoney, editor and founder of Raging Chicken Press. This week in Trumplandia: Americans learn a new vocabulary word. Say it with me now: MOAB. Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb. But you call call it Mother. In order to avoid protesters so she can more effectively destroy public education, we are paying almost $8 million for federal marshals to protect Betsy DeVos. Safely past Women’s History Month, Trump signs bill (behind closed doors) that may leave as many as 4 million women without access to medical services. Another former Trump campaign staffer registering as foreign agent. Carter Page...really, Carter Page…is STILL in the news. Supreme Court now armed to repeal 20th Century. Gorsuch will cut his teeth on voting rights. And Jeff Sessions heads to the border to announce that he is weaponizing the Justice Department to take a stand against “the filth” - his words from his prepared remarks. Oh, and let’s not forget North Korea. Can you say….ah, shi-bal?

Closer to home, Anti-EPA Director of the EPA Scott Pruitt, heads to PA coal mine to announce his plans to remove environmental protections. The coal mine he chose to speak at was recently fined $3 million for dumping mine wastewater into tributaries of the Ohio River. And it seems like Pruit has a friend in PA as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection sues two small rural towns for passing local laws banning underground disposal wells for fracking wastewater. You heard that right. The EPA is suing towns because they tried to protect the environment. According to a new report from PA Budget and Policy Center, PA taxpayers are footing the bill for teaching creationism in charter schools. PASSHE’s hired consultants visit campuses to determine how to give Chancellor Frank Brogan a green light to gut public higher education.

And what’s that? The first protest in space?

This week in Trumplandia: The big news of the day, of course, is that last night the US military attacked a Syrian military base with 59 tomahawk missiles. The attack was a response to the Assad regime’s brutal chemical weapons attack in Kahn Shaykhun, a town between Damascus and Aleppo that is held by forces opposed to Assad. Trump has not hesitated to order the use of military force since he took office. Awed by the first pictures of the Tomahawk missles being launched from US Destroyers, MSNBC’s Brian Williams calls the pictures “beautiful.”

No doubt that the airstrikes will dominate the news, even as the Senate moves to approve Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court today [Gorsuch was confirmed right as we were finishing recording]. In order to break a Democratic Party filibuster, Senate Republicans changed Senate rules. The repeal of the 20th century is now on the menu.

Bannon v. Jared aka the Tramp v. the Cuck. Jared does Iraq. Dons flak jacket over his blue sport coat - digging that stuffed sausage look.  Drama in the big house. Nunes out. You know, for the good of the whatever. Carter Page joyfully admits he was Russian agent. It was was very exciting.

Meanwhile, here in the Keystone state, many state Democrats join Republicans in the PA House to vote to bring back mandatory minimums. House GOP want to cut fire services in Harrisburg, apparently to speed their plans to burn down the government. No movement yet on so-called “right-to-work” package. PASSHE moves forward in plans to gut public higher education in the state. Philadelphia airport workers vote to unionize. PA Student Power ramping up their fight. Students at West Chester University join nationwide actions for Fight for 15 on Tuesday.

Tom Wolf and the PA DEP approves two new injection wells - think Oklahoma earthquakes and becomes a booster in favor of bring four more ethane cracker plants to the Keystone state.

Pennsylvania upping the ante on anti-climate crazy. Wanna-be Governor on PA, Scott Wagner, says people just need to take a cold shower, and we’ll be fine. Wagners campaign manager wants to make sure we know that Scottie is not a scientist. I repeat not a scientist. Philadelphia DA race getting interesting - civil rights attorney throws his hat in. Right-wing, billionaire backed think tank hacks in PA beg Sean to take their picture. Lancaster Stand keeps the trainings going, but postpones occupation as pipeline tied up in court. Ithaca college contingent faculty win big. Great weekend at Philly Labor Notes Troublemakers School. I talked APSCUF strike. Meanwhile PASSHE starts the retrenchment ball rolling.
