It’s Friday, January 27, 2017. I am Kevin Mahoney, editor and founder of Raging Chicken Press and Raging Chicken Media. Each week I talk to our Capitol muckraker-in-chief, Sean Kitchen, about the good, the bad, and the ugly in state and national politics.
One week out from the inauguration of the Trump Organization and the Doomsday Clock has moved 30 seconds closer to midnight according to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. Looking questionable if Democrats really have the spine to seriously resist. The Trump organization continues to crackdown on journalists as it gets ready to launch State Run Trump Media. Meanwhile people are not waiting around as millions of people take to the streets and STAY THERE in the days following the inauguration.
Meanwhile here in Pennsylvania, Republican lawmakers pushing a bill that would punish Sanctuary Cities and Counties. The Chancellor of the PA State System of Higher Education looking to deepen the austerity by closing or merging universities. Thousands take to the streets in Philadelphia to protest the GOP retreat. It’s been quite a week. All that and more on today’s show.

Editor's note: My apologies for the distracting audio. There was a lot of noise on Paul's end of the call.
Today on The Sit Down, we talk with Paul Ricci who blogs over at CSI Without Dead Bodies. We're talking the 2016 election, organizing in the forgotten cities and towns of PA, and how the presidential candidates do in regions with lots of hate groups! It's stats and politics today on The Sit Down.
It's Primary Day in Pennsylvania! On today's episode, we talk about the latest in the presidential and state races, where the Bernie Sanders campaign activists go from here, and the need to build on the amazing organizing that has characterizes this presidential election season.
We also talk about the importance of independent journalism in the wake of deep cuts in investigative reporting nationwide. Sean also accuses Kevin of "getting all NPR" on the podcast in his call to support Raging Chicken Press.
In our last segment we dip into Harrisburg Beer Week and why Sean felt like a rock star at one brewery's limited edition bottle release this past weekend. All this and SO MUCH MORE!
A couple of program notes...we pre-recorded today's episode on Monday, April 24 because both our schedules are FREAKING NUTS right now. We didn't want to miss a week, though. Kevin had a crazy media day making an early afternoon appearance on Nate B.'s West Coast "Stressing the Point" podcast and a return to the Rick Smith Show for RAGING MONDAY later that after noon. It was a Raging Chicken day from Philadelphia to Los Angeles!
On today's episode of Out d'Coup, we talk about Pennsylvania's historical move to pass medical marijuana legislation over the weekend. We talk about the amazing work of the activists who made it happen and what's next up in the fight for decriminalization.
We also talk about today's New York State primaries and look ahead to next week's Pennsylvania's primary. It's a packed show!

Today on Out d'Coup we get an update from Sean Kitchen on the status of the anti-abortion bill, HB 1948, and hear about how thin-skinned those tough-talking right-wing politicians are.
We hear that Cecil Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, came to Harrisburg to help put and end to PA Republican attempts to institute the most restrictive abortion bans in the country. We wonder why we didn't get more of a strong, public mobilization from PA's Democratic Party leadership.
Plus, we'll hear about recent trips to Saucony Creek Brewery and Gastropub in Kutztown and Forest and Main's fourth anniversary party in Ambler.

On today's episode, Sean Kitchen returns from his Easter carb coma to report on the latest right-wing attack on women's rights in PA: HB 1948 - the forced-birthing bill. This bill could make it to the floor for a vote in the PA house as soon as tomorrow. And don't think that all Democrats are going to stand with women on this one.
In our closing segment we talk about Villanova's amazing at-the-buzzer win in last nights Men's NCAA basketball final, while Kevin holds out hope for a Syracuse women's win in tonight's NCAA women's basketball final.
We'll leave all talk of today's Wisconsin primaries to the interwebs.
Today, Kevin Mahoney goes at it solo to try to get to the bottom of the mystery: "Where is Sean Kitchen?" Easter bunny accident? Drowning in sours at Forest and Main? We'll find out.
Then we turn to attempts to reintroduce huge tuition increases for students at PA State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) universities. You betcha. Can we get a 16% increase? Do I hear 20%?
It's Raging Chicken Radio!
In today's episode, we talk with Sean Kitchen about the "lobby breakfasts" springing up all over Harrisburg as budget season begins; proposed legislation to make it illegal for public officials to release the name of a police officer involved in a civilian shooting; and why it looks like Trump is going to take Pennsylvania in the Republican primary.

Yes, Raging Chicken Press is hitting the airways! Each week Raging Chicken Press editor, Kevin Mahoney, talks with Sean Kitchen from Raging Chicken's Harrisburg, PA Outpost about what's happening in the Capitol and behind the scenes.
In today's episode, we ask Sean about Gov. Wolf signing an executive order raising the minimum wage for state workers yesterday, still more GOP craziness, and what's expected to hit the floor next week.

Sean also tells us about his parent's first visit to tour the Capitol building and how he ended up in the closed Senate chamber holding the Senate mace. He also gives us a peek into the kind of talk he overhears in bars and coffee shops across the city.
